Sisters in Session: Lowndes County Board of Commissioners Meeting

Sisters in Session (S.I.S.) is a new initiative under the Social Justice Committee designed to increase civic literacy, visibility, and engagement across our community. While the initiative is housed within the committee, all members are welcome to participate.

The purpose of Sisters in Session is to ensure NCNW remains present, informed, and aligned with key decisions shaping Valdosta, Lowndes County, and the broader South Georgia region. This engagement may include attending a variety of public meetings such as City Council, County Commission, School Board sessions, legislative hearings, public safety forums, and other local or state-level civic events.

Participants are expected to maintain professionalism, listen actively, and document key takeaways with an eye toward NCNW’s Core Four Initiatives: Education, Health Equity, Economic Empowerment, and Social Justice.

Following participation, members will complete the Post-Meeting Engagement Report, enabling our section to track themes, identify trends, and determine where advocacy, partnership, or follow-up may…
