NCNW Valdosta-Lowndes Metro Section Hosts 9th Annual S.E.L.F.I.E. Conference to Empower Young Leaders

Free Event Provides Resources for College, Career Readiness, and Financial Literacy


Valdosta, GA – March 8, 2025 – The Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) proudly announces the 9th Annual S.E.L.F.I.E. (Self-Empowerment, Leadership, Finance, Innovation, and Education) Conference, a transformative event designed to equip young men and women ages 15-25 with essential skills for college, careers, and financial independence.


This year’s conference, themed “Frame Your Future”, will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the VSU STEAM Center (1302 N Patterson St, Valdosta, GA). Registration begins at 9:30 AM, and lunch will be provided.


Conference Highlights

The S.E.L.F.I.E. Conference will feature an inspiring lineup of guest speakers and interactive workshops focused on college readiness, career preparation, and financial literacy.

Key Sessions Include:

  • How to Apply for FAFSA & College Budgeting

  • Resume Writing & Interview Skills

  • A Free Professional Wear Closet for Interview Attire

  • Parent Breakout Session: Financial expert Nathaniel Herring, CLU, ChFC, will lead an exclusive session on saving and financial planning for college to help families prepare for the costs of higher education.
